Day out vs Date night

I love getting dressed up for date night but sometime I don't have the time or energy to put together an outfit before going out. I decided to create a new series on the blog called "Day out vs. Date Night" and give you some ideas of how to transition a day out outfit into date nigh with minimal effort and the least amount of pieces.

Day Out:

Button Up ( Express) | Cami ( Banana Republic) | Jeans ( Express) |
Loafers ( Target) | Purse ( Similar) | Necklace ( Kendra Scott)

Date Night:

Jacket ( Nordstrom) | Cami ( Banana Republic) | Jeans ( Express) |
Booties ( Similar) | Clutch ( Similar) | Necklace ( Kendra Scott)

By switching out 3 pieces I changed this outfit from day to night! I hope this helps you find some inspiration when you're in a rush to get ready for a night out.

Spring is just around the corner which means warmer weather and brighter accessories! Statement jewelry and colorful bags are some of my favorite trends for this spring, by adding a colorful accessory or a fun shoe you can start transitioning your wardrobe into spring.

I have rounded some of my favorite spring accessories and most of them (except this gorgeous bag) are under $200!

This statement necklace is one of my favorite pieces of jewelry because you can wear it all year around, I love pairing it with dresses and vests in the Fall and all white outfits in the Spring! I just ordered these shoes and these earrings are on sale for $41!

Blogging has helped my confidence and body image....

That might be a weird thing to say since having a fashion blog means putting yourself out there and giving people a chance to criticize the way you look in clothes.

Ever since I can remember I've had an unnatural love for fashion, I remember when I was a little girl I would go into my grandma's closet and get all dressed up in her fur coats, jewels and high heels, it made me feel like i could face anything that came my way, like I was wearing a gorgeous armor that helped me face the world. That feeling carried over into my teens and most of my twenties.

I had always refused a career in fashion, because I never thought I was pretty enough or skinny enough, or tall enough. Every time I saw a fashion model, blogger or designer they looked like the epitome of perfection and I was never going to be able to achieve that. They were the ultimate goal, a goal that ordinary people like me could never reach.

That comparison stopped me from starting a blog for a couple of years, every time I would sit down to write anything fashion-related a voice in the back of my head would say "who would listen to fashion advice from someone that looks like you?" and for a very long time I believed that little voice. Then one day something changed, I realized that our differences is what makes us beautiful and that there are a lot of guys and girls that feel like I do, like just because they don't fit a mold they shouldn't  be doing something they love.

When I got over my fear, blogging became my outlet, it was a way to channel my creative energy and I didn't care that my mom and mother-in-law were the only people reading it :) It was something I really enjoyed doing. Now a days, I don't worry too much about what other people think about my hobby but if I can help one girl get over her fear and realize that we were created after God's image and we are perfection in our own unique ways I have done my job!!

Blogging has opened my eyes to all the amazing people out there, and that no matter how different we are we all have something very special to offer. My blogs and IG pictures might seem silly to some, but to me they are a way to show that girl that is a little nerdy with a killer fashion sense that it is ok to be both, and that the world will embrace you just the way you are!

Thank you for putting up with this long and out of the ordinary post! Love y'all!!!

Wear Now, Wear later: Orange Top

Top: Charming Charlie's but  Similar Here | Sunglasses: Quay Australia |

Shorts: Similar Here |

Hat: Nordstrom | Top: Charming Charlie's but  Similar Here | Necklace: Kendra Scott |
Leather Leggings: Express | OTK Boots: Nordstrom | Bag: Similar Here |

September has arrived!!!! Which means fall clothes are starting to peak through in your closet!

A couple of weeks ago I was visiting charming charlie's (aka OCD heaven) when i came across the perfect flowy top!!! The burnt orange hue is the perfect for the fall and the airiness reminds me of a late summer sunset. I styled this orange top two different ways; how to wear now and later into the fall.

Wear Now: I paired this pretty top with some jean shorts and gladiator sandals! I had been looking for the perfect gladiator sandals since the end of the summer last year and I finally found them! The sandals give this top a summery feel without being too summer! I accessorized with one of my favorite necklaces from the new Kendra Scott fall collection!

Wear Later: At first I was a little worried that the black and orange combo was too Halloween, but the leather leggings and the OTK boots gave it an effortlessly edgy look! This hat was one of my favorite purchases from the Nordstrom Anniversary sale, the stitching on the edge is so beautiful!! Can we take a minute to appreciate this Kendra Scott Necklace??? It is probably my favorite statement necklace that I own!! (and I own quite a few of them!!)

I hope y'all enjoyed this post and have a wonderful weekend!!

Statement Shoes

Top: Similar here | Necklace: Kendra Scott | Sunglasses: Nordstrom |
Black Jeans: Asos | Shoes: JustFab, similar here and here |

During the summer I love wearing color, the brighter the outfit the better! But sometimes you have to let your accessories do the talking and keep everything else very simple. Simple doesn't have to mean boring, by paring some basic pieces with some statement making accessories, you get the perfect outfit!

Now can we talk about these amazing shoes?!? I love these shoes so much that I got them in 3 colors; this pattern, nude, and fuchsia! They are probably my favorite pair shoes in my closet, and that is saying a lot because I own a lot of shoes!!! (just ask my husband) I love these shoes because they are the perfect finishing touch every outfit needs and they are also really comfortable! I wore them for a night out when we were in Vegas and my feet did not hurt at all!

I got these shoes before the summer started from JustFab; for those of you that don't know what JustFab is it is an online store where you pay a monthly fee of $39.99 and you get shoes delivered at your door! They have super cute styles and they are really high quality. One of my favorite things about JustFab is that you if you don't feel like getting a pair of shoes that month you can just skip it and your credit card won't be charged! I have been getting shoes from JustFab for almost two years now and I have never had a problem!

Sadly my exact shoes are sold out but I linked some similar styles below!

Wear Now and Later: Booties

We are half way done with August which means we can start talking about, and even start wearing some of this year's Fall Fashion! It might still be 100+ degrees in Texas but that doesn't mean that I am any less excited about this year's cooler temp trends.

When I start buying fall clothes and accessories I am always too impatient to wait until October to start wearing my new purchases, so I decided to start a new series on the Blog "Wear Now and Later" to show ways that you can start incorporating Fall fashion into your Summer wardrobe!

Legally Blonde

I am currently sitting on the couch watching Legally Blonde with my sister, as you all know today is the movie's 15th year anniversary!!! I cannot believe this movie has been out for 15 years! Legally Blonde is one of my favorite movies! It is funny, has killer fashion and it teaches you a valuable lesson.

Watching this movie as I have gotten older has made me realize that this movie is more than a just a chick flick; this is a movie with an unapologetic strong female lead, who teaches you that with a little faith and a lot of hard work, you can achieve anything you set your mind to. Some people might even think is one of the best feminist movies of all time!

Elle Woods made a lasting impression on a 11 year old who loved fashion and the color pink, but was a huge nerd on the inside. She made me realize that it was acceptable to love fashion as much as I loved school, and that there were going to be times when people didn't think that you were good enough, but you must always have faith on yourself!!

I decided to write a blog post on one of the biggest style icons of the early 2000s - Elle Woods.

Heart Shoes - Legally Blonde

Remember that amazing tie dye dress and the heart wedges that Elle wore in the opening scene? Probably one of my favorite outfits in whole movie!

First Day - Legally Blonde

For Elle's first day at her new internship she wore a timeless black and white ensemble, with a pops of red. This outfit would be perfect for the office!

Pink everything - Legally Blonde

A monochromatic pink outfit with touches of gold was the perfect choice for Elle's shining moment!

Jewelry Collection

Growing up I loved playing dress up at my Grandmother's house, she has the biggest jewelry collection I have ever seen! I used to wear 5 or 6 six necklaces at a time and pretend I was a fabulous grown up (Just like my grandma!) My mom loves jewelry just as much as my grandma or maybe even more! She knows that the right accessories can improve an outfit and sometimes even your mood! Thanks to these two fabulous women my love for accessories started at a very young age.

As I got older I started building my own collection and if you ask my husband my jewelry collections needs to stop growing! (You can never have enough accessories right?!) A statement necklace can turn a plain t-shirt into and outfit, and the right earrings can frame your face and make you look put together.

I am sharing some tips on how to start building your collection without spending a fortune!

1. Save on trendy pieces: Places like H&M and Forever 21 are great to get the trendy pieces at a lower price. I am obsessed with tassels this season but I don't like to spend a lot on these pieces because I might only wear them for one season and then forget about them. Some of my current favorite tassel pieces at the moment are here, here (under $5!!) and here.

2. Invest in statement pieces: Some of my favorite pieces in my collection are my Kendra Scott Harlow necklaces, they make a statement no matter how I wear them. When I feel like my outfits need something special I always throw on a Harlow necklace and it makes me feel like my outfit is complete. The best part about these necklaces is that they come in a lot different colors and metal. Harlow necklaces are on the higher price range but I justify the price by how much wear I get out of them, but BaubleBar also has some great statement necklaces for lower prices. Some great BaubleBar options are here, here and here.

3. Shop the sales: There is only one thing I love more than a good sale and that is cute jewelry on sale! If there is an item that I really like but I am not willing to pay full price for it I set a sale alert on my ShopStyle app so I can get when it goes on sale.

4. Get unique pieces when you travel: Traveling is a great way to add pieces to your wardrobe. I always like to get accessories from places I visit because I know nobody else will have something like it and it can become a conversation starter!

5. Timeless pieces are a must: As much as I love trendy pieces and statement jewelry, a couple of pieces that I always recommend having as part of your collection are those that never go out of style. For me those pieces are pearls, diamond studs, my monogram and a great watch.

Spring Wish List

spring wish list

1    //    2    //    3    //    4    //    5    //    6    //    7    //    8

Temperatures are rising which means it is time to start adding more color to my wardrobe. Springtime  is one of my favorite seasons because the colors are so romantic and feminine. I usually fall in an outfit rut during the winter, sometimes is too cold to look cute! Springtime gives me a chance to hit reset button on my ootd game and start feeling like myself again!

If my wish list is any indication I will be rocking a lot of pastels and tassels this spring!
